WHO
WE ARE
Helping Our People Excel (H.O.P.E.) is a new nonprofit organization ; its founding meeting took place in March 2007. While awaiting our nonprofit status from the IRS, we are operating as a project of the Center for Independent Living (CILD).
In 2001, A client’s father of a traumatic brain injury, was impressed with the work that Accent on Independence (AOI) did to assist his son’s recovery. He wanted to give back to the agency by helping to set up a food share at the office of AOI. In the summer of 2001 He and, Carol Bouchard, the executive director of AOI, and a hand full of volunteers started providing food to 15 to 30 families a week.
Due to increasing need, AOI hired a nonprofit consultant and grant writer Robin Bolduc in January 2007.
Robin’s participation will help support the food pantry and assist us in meeting the basic human needs and spirit of low-income individuals in the Denver Metro area.
Currently H.O.P.E.’s Pantry now serves up to 150 families per week.
The future goal for H.O.P.E. is to develop a sustainable organization that will
provide food, toiletries, access to affordable housing, home repairs, and
employment opportunities for all people in need regardless of race, creed,
disability, or sexual orientation.
To truly help people succeed and excel! To offer a hand up, not a hand out!
