h.o.p.e. provides several programs dedicated to meeting the clients' basic needs, as well as helping clients access community resources in a welcoming, wheelchair accessible environment.
h.o.p.e.'s Pantry: distributes food to approximately 453 people weekly from its Lakewood location, helping individuals and families maintain good nutrition and to meet their basic needs. In 2008, the pantry served 10,000; 2009, 13,711 individuals; and in 2010, we served 20,535. This was a 33% increase from 2009. The pantry is currently opened from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the year. Read more.
Food Share: h.o.p.e. shares food with other local food pantries, social service agencies and churches when they receive large donations of bread, dairy and fresh produce. The goal is to prevent waste and to maximize the benefit of each donation for those in need. Read more.
h.o.p.e.'s Attic: provides coats, shirts, sweaters, jeans, shoes and miscellaneous clothing items, including business attire, to keep our clients dressed appropriately for weather and employment. Toys, books, furniture and other household items are also available.
The h.o.p.e. Relief Fund: assists h.o.p.e.'s clients with short-term emergency needs. Read more.
Gardens of h.o.p.e.: is a wheelchair accessible community garden, located at the Lakewood food pantry. The garden was built with the support of the Denver Urban Gardens. In the spring of 2010, three private households offered part of their yards to be planted into h.o.p.e. vegetable gardens.The harvested food is shared during the weekly distribution of food.
