In 2010, h.o.p.e. planted four gardens. In addition to the community garden next to the h.o.p.e. building in Lakewood, three private households offered part of their yards to be planted into vegetable gardens and they then donated these vegetables to the Food Pantry. |

| Pictured on the right: In 2010, the gardens produced hundreds of zucchini along with other vegetables that were distributed to our clients. A contest was held requesting the player to name a fruit or vegetable using the letters in Helping Our People Excel. Linda Cox was the winner of this contest. She was presented with a $25 King Soopers Gift Card for naming the 21 different fruits and vegetables. Left to right is Robin Young, Linda Cox and Carol Bouchard. |

Pictured on the left: Anita Paschal was one of the homeowners who not only planted and maintained the gardens, but also canned multiple jars of pickles, carrots and relish that she donated to the Food Pantry. |
Bill Gann and Debby Debruyne volunteered in the garden as well. Debby baked multiple loaves of zucchini bread and brownies and offered them to the clients during the Friday distributions. Bill would help harvest every Thursday and Friday morning throughout the summer season so there would be fresh vegetables also for the Friday distributions. |
